Security to the Widow and Orphan. The Manhattan Life Insurance Company, Bank of Commerce Building. No 31 Nassau Street, New York, Opposite the Post Office. 'The practice of Life Insurance in any country indicates a state of society where high moral feeling and commercial confidence exists"- Jenkins Jones. Published by The Manhattan Life Insurance Company 1861.
The Manhattan Life Insurance Company was started in 1850 and was known during the Civil War as "Old Reliable" for paying out... benefits to Confederate widows. It was also the first Life Insurance Company to sell policies to women. 
CONDITION:This 154-year-old booklet measures 7.5x4.5 and is 44 pages long. There is some yellowing of age and light toning present throughout; no writings or markings.
