An original Civil War letter dated 1864 from Atlanta Georgia. In one area it says, ........I suppose you have learned by the papers of the RR being....up between here an Chattanooga which has been the cause of my long delay in writing but it is all right again and trains are running regular the 20th Corps has been around Atlanta since it was taken and so has not been engaged in any of the battles in.....although we have ha...d plenty to do such as fortifying recanotering forraging &c The 3rd Brig along with 2 or 3 other Brigade of the Corp has just returned from a five day foragging trip we fetched in 750 waggons well loaded with corn oats and.......which we gather on the line of the Atlanta and Agusta R.R. about 30 miles from here it is a very rich country around here................................
