Art Deco sterling silver marcasite leaf brooch Germany
This beautiful piece is in very good condition. The brooch is in the form of leaf similar to a maple leaf. It is packed with sparkling bead set marcasites. This means the marcasites have been set using a graver tool to curl the silver over the edge of the stone. This was time consuming and required a reasonable amount of patience and skill. This is a quality piece. The back of the brooch is marked Sterling German...y indicating the piece was made prior to the split of Germany after WW2.
The brooch has a roll over locking clasp and a secure pin secure in its hinge. There are no missing stones.
The brooch is around 35mm x 30mm and weighs 10.5gms.
For North American users a handy guide is 25mm or 2.5cm is a little less than 1 inch, so 100mm or 10cm is just less than 4 inches.
