In the spotlight for your bidding consideration is this vintage, all cloth Erna Meyer dollhouse boy in his original clothes! Erna Meyer began making her Ermey dolls in 1945. This is an early example with the cloth shoes and cardboard soles, dating to the 1940’s or 50’s. Later examples have plastic shoes. So popular are the dolls that they are still being made today. In my opinion, they don’t quite have the same charm as the early dolls. Standing 5” tall, the doll has a body wit...h a wire armature underneath the flesh toned stockinette covering. His molded cloth face has delicate hand painted features, the head topped with a blond wig and a blue felt cap. He wears his hat at a jaunty angle. It is a nice match with his blue cargo pants and checked shirt. This particular doll is glued to a cardboard stand that is printed on the bottom with the name and address of a studio in New York (pre the use of postal zip codes first implemented in 1963). I don’t know anything about the Mona Dobra Studio, but I’m sure it is an atelier that I would have loved! This sweet lad has a lady friend (or sister!). In the last half of the pictures I show him with an Ermey girl. The girl and dollhouse items shown are not included here, but can be seen in separate listings.
