Vintage Early 1940s/50s Erna Meyer Ermey Stockinet Cloth Dollhouse Doll Hessian

Showcased here for your bidding consideration is this nice and early all cloth Erna Meyer dollhouse girl in her original Hessian costume! Erna Meyer began making her Ermey dolls in 1945. This is an early example with the cloth shoes and cardboard soles, dating to the 1940’s or 50’s. Later examples have plastic shoes. So popular are the dolls that they are still being made today! In my opinion, the modern examples don’t quite have the same panache as the early dolls. Standing 5 1/...4” tall to the top of her traditional red headdress, the doll has a cloth body with a wire armature underneath the flesh toned stockinette covering. Her molded cloth face has delicate hand painted features, with bright blue eyes! The doll’s head is topped with an upswept blond wig topped with that tea cup shaped hat that ties under her chin. The black felt bodice has tiny bead buttons. A beautifully embroidered sash at the waist matches the trim on her black skirt, over which is worn a now somewhat faded blue apron. Interestingly, her little cloth shoes have tiny embroidered buckles on them—something I haven’t seen before on these Ermey dolls.Wouldn’t it be fun to have the entire collection of Erna Meyer regional dolls?
