Winner receives an original hand signed, colored etching by well listed artist Robert Kasimir (1914-2002). The etching is titled "Montmartre I". It is hand signed in pencil along the lower center edge, seen magnified in picture 5. This piece, along with the others by the Kasimir family have provenance from the collection of the New York State Stock Exchange. The etching is in exquisite condition with no damage whatsoever. There are no rips, tears, repairs, creases, ...foxing, toning, or staining. It is an excellent strike with nice, rich bold lines and detail. The gallery frame is in very good condition with no cracks, losses, or repairs, but does have some scratches, gouges, and other cosmetic wear. The piece is ready for hanging as-is. The frame measures roughly 22.25" x 26.75", with the image measuring roughly 13.25" x 17.75". Please note the pictures may not be as clear as we'd like due to the settings on the camera to reduce the glare. Below is some information about the artist, whose father was the famous Luigi Kasimir. Son of the famous Tanna and Luigi Kasimir, Robert was born in 1914 Vienna, Austria. He studied under Hans Frank at the Academy of Graphic Art. Later, he moved to the United States in 1936 to enroll at the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. During his two years of study, he produced etchings of the different sites he traveled to across America. He became greatly-known for his unique take on the multiple plate color etching process invented from his parents.The cultural, architectural influences within Europe during and after the second World War greatly inspired Robert. In this, he began producing a prolific body of work that can still be found in many collections and institutions across the globe today.Robert passed away in Austria in 2002. At first, Luigi did not think that Robert was good enough to sign the Kasimir name on his work. Robert would sign his work using the name “F O Robert” (abbreviation for Franz Otto Robert). After his father passed, he signed his prints “Robert Kasimir”.
