This is a vintage original 11x14 in. U.S. lobby card from the 1940's crime drama, QUEEN OF THE MOB (AKA The Woman From Hell!), released in 1940 by Paramount Pictures and directed by James Hogan. The source material was a book attributed to FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover entitled Persons inHiding. The events are loosely based on the kidnapping of Edward Bremer bythe Barker-Karpis Gang, which Hoover believed to have been led by Ma Barker.The names of the persons involved and oth...er details of events were changed inthe film at the request of the FBI. The character of Ma Webster (Blanche Yurka) is a female gangleader in Illinois and the film includes car chases and an airplane crash.The image features an interior long shot near the film's climax as gangster Ma Webster (Blanche Yurka) is apprehended by FBI agents Ross Waring (Jack Carson, left) and Scott Langham (Ralph Bellamy), both holding a machine gun, after a policeman has been killed and is lying on the floor. The door at the left has a diagonal line of bullet holes through it from the gun battle. This vintage original lobby card is unrestored in fine+ condition with light signs of wear on the corners; a tiny nick on the edge of the top border; and a hard 1.5 in. diagonal crease in the top half of the left border. The color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.Provenance: The Morris Everett Jr. Collection.
