FYI: The Swastika symbol has a long history and was not only used by the Germans in WWII. see below:
The Origins of the SwastikaThe word swastika comes from the Sanskrit sv...astika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being." The motif (a hooked cross) appears to have first been used in Eurasia, as early as 7000 years ago, perhaps representing the movement of the sun through the sky. To this day, it is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Odinism. It is a common sight on temples or houses in India or Indonesia. Swastikas also have an ancient history in Europe, appearing on artifacts from pre-Christian European cultures.
On Oct-15-19 at 14:34:34 PDT, seller added the following information:* someone had asked if I could post a photo of the small chip on the rim. Please view photo #8. It is interior rim, to the right near the handle. It is pretty shallow. also want to remind that there are some glaze pops and minor glaze flakes around the outside of the body. Crazing interior base. All of these things are very normal for this type of pottery/stoneware. Pitcher is lovely and a great collectible.
also an FYI; this was made in the 1920s - before the Nazis adopted the swastika as their symbol. As it states above - over the course of history it was considered a symbol for good fortune.
great start price with NO RESERVE. GOOD LUCK!
