Original issue early talkie / sound movie sheet music entitled - Love is Like a Rose, by Al Bryan & George Meyer. Published 1929 by Piantadosi Inc. of NYC. Theme song to the film HER PRIVATE LIFE, a First National / Vitaphone pre code motion picture Directed by Alexander Korda. Art deco cover has photo of major screen star ... BILLIE DOVE (1903-1997) & co-star Walter Pidgeon ... leading man on Stage & in sound films. Billie Dove appeared on screen be...tween 1921-32, was dubbed "the American Beauty" for her good looks; she was romantically linked with Howard Hughes for a 3 year period. Among her memorable cinema appearances was opposite Douglas Fairbanks in THE BLACK PIRATE - 1926. This piece of music is complete, & an interesting movie tie-in, 90 years old. Suitable for framing, standard format. This is the only 1 of 3 examples I ran across in 50 years of active collecting, I'd consider it rare. Excellent condition, partially splitting spine, vertical crease, clean - crisp - vivid; etc.. Musically complete. See photos ...
