Original issue early talkie / sound movie sheet music entitled - I'D LIKE TO BE A GYPSY, by Ned Washington, Herb Magidson & Michael H. Cleary. Published 1929 by M. Witmark & Sons of NYC. Theme song to the film LILIES / LILLIES of the FIELD, a First National / Vitaphone motion picture. Cover has large lily framed close-up photo of major screen star ... CORINNE GRIFFITH (1894-1979) in costume from the film. Corine appeared on screen between 1916-32 &...amp; was a top tier movie star in her day. She was nominated for an Oscar / Academy Award for her performance in THE DIVINE LADY - 1929. Known for her beauty & poise, she became a successful writer (11 books) after her screen career ... 2 books achieved best-seller status. She was also highly successful with her real estate investments in Los Angeles. This piece of music is complete, & an interesting movie tie-in, 90 years old. Suitable for framing, standard format. This is the only 1 of 3 examples I ran across in 50 years of active collecting, I'd consider it RARE. Excellent, partially split spine, clean - crisp - vivid; etc.. Musically complete. See photos ...
