From a recent estate auction, an Antique, Maple Leaf Nippon Hand Painted Tea Strainer & Receptacle, with Gold Moriage. This is a "dainty" and "delicate" little strainer and receptacle appropriately marked with the 1/4" Maple Leaf Nippon identifying mark and the words Hand Painted on the bottom of the dish. This mark identifies the piece as having been produced between 1891 to 1911. Photo #9 shows the impressed Maple Leaf Mark and a number located on the underside of the handle... of the strainer.
It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, dings or repairs. There is very little wear to the gold and the moriage is intact. The floral design on the under cup appears 3 times around the cup. It also appears around the top edge of the strainer.
Measurements are shown in Photos #8 and #9. The two pieces together weigh 5.6 ounces.
