Provides extensive coverage on knowledge of bee biology of the period, as well as apiary and hive construction and management practiced in Europe during the early 1800s.Contemporary ink notes to rear free endpaper (see images), front board is loose; small tear to top corner of fly leaf, modern owner's card tipped in, with original blind stamped cloth binding, spine marked with some wear to extremities, hive in gilt on outer front cover; Covers soiled, pages mostly clean, without foxing and only a few underlined words here and there (mostly on pages of the Memoir); pages are nicely age toned.
