R.M.S."Medina" was a P&O liner built by Caird & Co. in 1911. She was chartered as a Royal Yacht to take King George V and Queen Mary to the Delhi Durbar of 1911. She remained in service during the Great War and was sunk on the 28th April 1917 by German submarine U-31. In 1988 a quantity of salvaged items from her wreck were sold at Sotheby's Billingshurst, a sticker from the sale is still on t...he lid.
The box measures 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 3/4" and has a detached lid. The instuments are marked DOWN BROS. LONDON. and include a brass syringe. Considering this box must have been submerged in sea water for many years they are still in fairly good condition.
