Original Description:
Mid 19th century salt glazed stoneware beer or sarsaparilla bottle. It has a super clear impressed bottler mark on the shoulder S. ELDRIDGE. Sam Eldridge was a bottler in Dexter, Maine in the mid 19th century. The glaze is a nice deep grey color. It has a glaze pop from manufacture that is glazed over. The base has a wire mark from when it was removed from the potters wheel. The early style donut lip is perfect and has the remains of a period cork stuffed inside it. It is a nice beer w...ith light use wear. It stands 10" tall. It is heavy. I recently purchased it at an estate auction. The pictures are accurate as to its condition.
