An original Civil War Confederate letter. It looks like it is dated 25 oct 1863 from Sweetwater Tennessee. In one area it says, We reached here yesterday evening and had a brisk encounter with the enemy which continued between the Artillery until dark. We expected to renew the engagement all along the lines this morning but the Yankees after lighting their camp fires retreated toward Loudon. We are now in motion for Philadelphia..................Our reinforcements are rapidly coming up by ...........and I hope soon to announce that the vandals have been driven out of the country..........
