RARE 19c DRESDEN YOUNG GIRL HEAD BUST FIGURINE, EARLY SITZENDORF MARK VOIGT BROS
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:13178094 | Age: 1850-1899 |
Color: Pink, green, white | Maker: Dresden Sitzendorf, Voigt Brothers |
Country/Region of Origin: Germany | Original/Reproduction: Original |
The figurine was purchased at the estate sale of an elderly antiques dealer. Beyond that, its provenance is unknown.
Design: The young girl is dressed in the ...pastel garments of a bygone era, rosy cheeked, with a floral corsage and a finely detailed and quite serious facial expression. Gold scallops highlight the base.
Size: The figurine is 5 1/4 inches tall, measured from the top of the head. It's 4 inches wide at its widest point.
Condition: It is in excellent condition for its age and delicate materials, with no known nicks, cracks, scratches or stains. There is a tiny chip at the bottom of the corsage, shown in the photos with the penny. Taped on the base is a small piece of green porcelain that broke off at some point in the figurine's long history. It appears to belong just below the chip; in the photos that white spot looks like a bit of missing paint.
There does not appear to be any further damage but as with all delicate porcelain - and Dresden in particular - that cannot be confirmed. Please check all the photos very carefully; they are an important part of the description.
