Here's a big 1/2 gallon stoneware ink Stephens Ink jug over 100 years old with applied handle, pour spout and both of its original labels! STEPHENS INKS stamped into pottery near base on lower front.....full original paper label reads in part: STEPHENS BLUE BLACK WRITING FLUID ...etc...HENRY STEPHENS...ALDERSGATE ST. LONDON....the small shoulder label reads IN THE INTEREST OF WAR TIME ECONOMY PLEASE RETURN THIS BOTTLE WHEN EMPTY TO YOUR STATIONER WHO WILL MAKE AN ALLOWANCE........thick heavy brown glazed pottery jug....applied handle....pour spout lip.....10 1/2"tall....Excellent near mint condition with no chips or damage of any kind. A nice clean jug with no stains. Labels are both nice with only some nicks on edge. This is a scarce big stoneware ink jug over 100 years old. It is interesting to note the "War Time Economy" label from World War 1, which dates this jug to around 1915.
