Original Description:
For your consideration is a wax sealer canning jar made by Peoria Pottery of Peoria, Illinois.  This jar is not marked, but I have dabbled since stoneware since 1973 and can think of 0 companies that made wax sealers with this design.  The only mark on the bottom is a 0.  On the side is a mark that I cannot read.  The jar is widest at its mold seam.  The mold seam is concealed by a heavy band.  Below the band, are 12 vertical panels.  Above the mold s...eam are 12 vertical panels that are rounded  Wax sealers got their name, because a thin tin lid fit into the groove and covered the opening; molten wax was poured into the groove; as the wax cooled, it hardened and formed a seal.  This jar has a height of slightly more than 7".  The bottom has a diameter of 3 3/4", the top has a diameter of 3 5/8" and it uses a lid of 2 3/4".  Filled as full as I would care to fill it with tap water, the capacity is 5 cups.
