For your consideration is a Red Wing Stoneware wax sealer canning jar of one quart capacity. This company was founded in Red Wing, Minnesota in 1877. In 1906 it merged with Minnesota Stoneware (located across the street) and the merged company named itself Red Wing Union Stoneware. Wax sealers were the primary canning jars of yesteryear. Thin tin lids were placed in the groove and molten wax was poured over the edge of the tin lid; as the wax cooled, it har...dened and formed a seal. That is how the name wax sealer came to be. At first glance, this jar appears to be brown, but when it is exposed to a source of bright light, various shades of red and brown are exposed. It has a height of slightly more than 5 3/4" and the bottom has a diameter of 3 7/8". The top has a diameter of 3 7/8". There are two chips on the top outer edge; one of the chips is in a large factory chip, that is mostly glazed over. Also, there are two chips on the bottom edge. All that being said: There are 0 cracks. The main thing it needs is an owner that will give it a good home. Please, carefully examine the pictures, as the pictures are part of the description.
