Offered for auction is an antique Staffordshire 19th C blue and white transferware double bowl soap dish. It shows very nice but it does have a staple repair and a hairline crack on the underneath bowl. The top bowl which fits into the the bottom has 15 drain holes and hangs over the edge of the under bowl which covers the repairs and hairline. The top is in very good condition but does have a slight reddish stain on a few very tiny spots. Could have been caused by a dark soap. Th...e underside has a registration mark that was used between 1842 and 1867. I think the bottom letter is a K which would date it to 1857. There is a 6 sided blue star underglaze with a dot in the middle mark on the bottom but I do not know which manufacturer that belonged to. The bottom bowl is 4 7/8 inches round and the top piece is 5 1/4 inches round.It is 2 inches high. A nice piece for your bathroom or kitchen.
