This was my grandmother's. It has been well cared for, still runs, chimes, and keeps good time. It would no doubt benefit from a trip to a good clock shop, which it hasn't seen in a generation or so, but is otherwise ready to go. There are hairline cracks in the glazing, which you can see in the photos and which I presume is normal, but are no other defects that I can detect.

But persistence paid off and eventually it would run continuously for days (I believe it's an 8-day movement). It was like it needed to "loosen up" a bit. That makes me think that a cleaning and oiling is in order.
