Motorola Radio 50XC Catalin 'Circle Grille' inMarbleized Yellow Please look atall photos and read description as this radio displays well but has issues. This CatalinMotorola radio model 50-XC-3 'Circle-Grill' in marbleized yellow/oatmeal is amagnificent, exquisitely crafted Art Deco radio. Manufactured in 1940 byMotorola Radio also known to collectors as the "Circle Grille". ThisMotorola design is considered one of the most appealing sets of its timebeautifully designed in t...he Art Deco Style. The catalin has a deep shine thatmakes its yellow/oatmeal color glow + shows off the beautiful marbleizing, which, makes it stand out from other Catalin radios. The detailsare unique with its round Catalin speaker bezel, scalloped handle, andhexagonal knobs. The cabinet features streamlined ridges that stretch aroundthe case bringing all the elements together. The golden dial face is alsodecorated with deco numerals and sunburst designs that emanate from a redplastic dial pointer with the letter "M" cast in to it. This radio'sbeautiful yellow catalin cabinet is in original condition with no cracks, chipsor tube burns. The cabinet does have numerous holes that were filled/repairedat some point; they are clearly visible in the photo of bottom of radio. Thehandle is original but has a chip on the backside and has been sanded and stherefore not glossy; see photos. The 'Circle Grill' bezel and knobs weremachined from original catalin at some point and look great on the radio. Thetrim needs to be polished as it has some sanding/machining marks. The fabricgrill cloth is a period correct replacement. The radio shows some wearconsistent with age. Dial plastic cover is original.
