Serial #276 - One of the First Ever Manufactured !!!

Offered for sale is this excellent example of Edison's premier phonograph, one that every collector aspires to own. Indeed, this model is exhibited on the front cover of the world-standard reference book "Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion" by George Frow.
Exhibiting very early Serial #276, and marked "Opera" on both the nameplate and the ...bedplate. Due to trademark infringement issues, Edison had to change the model designation to "Concert" after the first year of production.
The mahogany case is with lifting handles on either side. This differentiates it from oak-cased models that did not have them.
This has an automatic shut-off and a "Diamond A" reproducer for playing 4-minute (celluloid) cylinders. OR, you can opt for an "L" reproducer, which plays 4-minute wax cylinders.
The mahogany case has been refinished and polished to the highest standards and is simply near-perfect.
The bedplate paint and striping is perfect, benefiting from a recent professional restoration. The horn is without splits or cracks, and the wood-grained elbow (repainted) is in excellent condition as well. The reproducer, automatic stop, lifting handles, etc. all exhibit striking "oxidized" appearance.
Everything works perfectly, as it should, with the reproducer lift mechanism, speed control, auto shut-ff, etc. all functioning properly. The gearbox is quiet and without extraneous noises. And, of course, the sound is great:
