Up for auction is a beautiful Aesthetics Movement 1885 Regatta Trophy. It is marked on bottom Gilt by Reed & Barton. It features two mustached men rowing next to each other, the base is harp shaped with a boat oar, The chalice form is lidded and possibly meant to be used as a censor. It is banded by cherubs in a chariot being pulled by an ostrich, butterfly's and a gazelle. The Rangoon Boat Club was located in Yangon, Myanmar (now Burma) and was a hang out of the British troops whi...le it was British occupied. Measures 10 1/2" tall x 3 1/4" wide. There is silver plate loss below the band of cherubs, a small ding to the rim edge and some normal wear. Fresh out of a recent estate.
