A nice CDV featuring a Union first lieutenant identified in pencil on the reverse as Army Assistant Surgeon William F. Cornick. The notation also states that Cornick was the executive officer at Lovell General Hospital in Portsmouth Grove, Rhode Island. In service from July 1862 to August 1865, thousands of sick and wounded men were treated at Lovell, including many men convicted by court martial and confederate prisoners of war. The photographer’s backmark is Manchester Bro’s. of ...Providence. The CDV is in very good condition with a very slight horizontal crease. Please see my other items for more Civil War CDVs.
