Original Description:
Vintage Maitland Smith Hourglass.Overall piece Measures approximately 15" tall by 7 1/2" wide. Weighs approx 9 lbs.We have never seen nor can we find another like it anywhere.Made of gorgeous solid hardwood, bronze brass metal and glass. The sand inside is a beautifu tan salt and pepper mix with the few shades in between. The bottom has original felt and original Maitland-Smith sticker.There are 2 end cap screws missing from the ends of the rods on either side of The ...hourglass itself. (See photo #8 ) Which causes The hourglass to shift on its axis some when rotated to that side. The piece stays together fine and still displays beautifully. The hourglass rotates and sand spills gracefully from one side to the other putting on a wonderful display. (Not so much to be used as an actual timer as we clocked one side at approximately 35 seconds and the other side a little bit less.)A uniquely elegant, high quality piece from Maitland Smith.
