This is a straight-from-Australia Kelly Dandenong Tasmanian axe from my personal collection that I've been holding on to dearly for a few years, but I recently decided to offer it to you guys in order to finance other important projects. This axe is simply amazing, with perfect handle alignment and grain orientation, a 2-inch wide racing knob, a custom leather sheath and a hand-hammered solid brass handle guard. It has only one flaw: a knick on the edge I didn't want to grind out for f...ear of changing the blade's excellent geometry. I took this axe to work with me on the making of Barkskins, a National Geographic TV series that will air sometime next year. I used my Dandenong to carve the stumps of chainsaw-felled rock maples so they look like they were felled in early 1700! I did a lot of that, then lent it to a guy who used it for various other tasks on the show, and that's how it got the knick, probably hitting rocks. However, the steel held nicely, the sheath and the handle too! It was thrown in the back of a pickup truck daily with lots of other loose tools, stayed in the rain, mud, etc. Once back home, I resharpened it (up to 10, 000 grit!), blued the head, cleaned the sheath, made this lovely 1.5mm thick brass guard and here it is in all its glory and ready to find a new owner! I also made the sheath and burnt my mark on the butt of the handle; the three mushrooms, symbol of life, nature and perpetual renewal. Formerly know as Boletus_trinity, I have been restoring and selling hundreds of work-ready axes to people all over the world with a very high satisfaction rate and barely any returns! You can trust those three little mushrooms on the butt of the handle; they are my mark and guarantee that this axe was fitted and sharpened to the best standards. Thanks for your looking and happy shopping!
