Original Description:
An original and historic manuscript petition, dated Farmington, Connecticut, February 22, 1770, and signed by over fifteen inhabitants. The petition is addressed to the Selectmen of the Town of Farmington reminding them that the General Assembly had ordered the inhabitants of the Town to build and keep in good repair a cart bridge over the nearby Farmington River, but an "extraordinary Flood and Ice" had badly damaged the bridge to the point it was unusable, and the Town has neglected ...to repair it. The petitioners ask the Selectmen "To Repair Said Bridge forthwith".
