I buy vintage linens at local estate auctions to pass them along to you, and I always look for vintage and antique clothing and accessories.
This is an antique lace shawl from the 1900s to 19120s that is really large. It is triangular in shape and measures 104" along the top edge and 53" long at its center. It is made of a crisp starched fabric, and the lace is full of different flower patterns: there is one pattern down the center back which is 15" wide, and c...lusters or small bouquets of flowers in other areas. The edges have large scallops. The size of this gives it a great dramatic look. Please use the zoom function to check all the great details..I gave this a gentle hand wash and press, and found the fabric to be sound, soft and strong and not brittle, although it has a lot of residual starch. It is not perfect, with 4 to 5 breaks in the netting background, some loose threads on the edges, and worst of all a 1" hole at the top center back. All these are shown in the last several closeups. They do not spoil the dramatic look of this - there is so much of this gorgeous lace! I am storing this in my smoke-free home, but I do have a cat who sheds copiously, so be aware if you have allergies. Please contact me for more information or photos.
