Vintage C1905 " Lambert No. 2 " Typewriter

This fabulous "Lambert NO.2" typewriter dates from around 1905 and is, I believe, the "No 2" model.The "Lambert" typewriter was of the inventions produced by Frank Lambert, a French immigrant to the USA. The typewriters were produced in the USA and the Europe. In the UK they were made by the "Gramaphone and Typewriter Co", who also manufactured phonographs and were the originators of "his masters voice" trademark.The typewriter has retained much of its' original black japanned paint a...nd gold lining and decoration, however, there is some missing paint to the edges of the base and the arm at the back, as well as the usual marks, scuffs and scratches that you would associate with a machine of this age.The plated metal work has lost a little of its' finish in places, with some surface rust blemishes.The base is embossed with "Lambert" this has much of its' gold paint.The paper table underneath the print head is impressed with "Made in England", a list of patent countries and dates along with "Gramaphone and Typewriter Limited, London, Paris, Berlin" and the trademark.The serial number is 5401All of the keys are present without damage and the letters, numbers, etc still have a fair colour.The print head rotates and hits the platen when the keys are depressed.The carriage does not move along when typing and there appears to be a missing knob to one end. The platen is wooden with an inlaid metal strip.There are no cracks or chips to the hard rubber dial or print head.The 'shift' lever is present and appears to work.This stunning machine would be a great addition to any collection.
