Pictured above is a very rare and hard to find ORIGINAL Vintage 1947 SPOOK SHOW Poster. This is the Iconic, large format, poster with all the elements that qualify this one to be a classic and is the "Big Brother" of the smaller one I just sold. It features the CHASM OF SPASMS Risqué, Sexpoitation show by "The World Famous Dr. Ogre BANSHEE" staged by John Calvert. The famous Big Midnite SPOOK SHOW featured on the top of the poster and Jack London's "BLOOD and THU...NDER" (100 Men and ONE Beautiful Girl!) on the bottom. PLUS the Extra feature of VERGA "The Spook Vampire Girl" taking her MIDNITE BATH!! What a show! (Sissies Stay Home!). The poster is dated 1947 on the bottom and is original by Hygienic Productions, which is who my father worked for in the 1940's. He traveled throughout the United States presenting this show and he staged the Spook Show and performed magic. After a successful run with this show, he created his own Spook Show and incorporated it with his Magician and Hypnotist show as "THE GREAT ZAVAR". I will offer some of his memorabilia is future listings. This poster is the large movie theatre size about 40" x 60" and is in good condition with some stains, creases and small tears around the border. There are stains on the back as shown. I think this original poster is about as nice as you're going to find and will make a great center piece in your SPOOK SHOW or MAGIC collection. Please view the many close-up photos for actual condition. I unfolded the poster for the first time since he put it in storage in 1948 (the year I was born he quit the show business) and it is in great condition. The poster is colorful with great border graphics of skeletons, spooks, ghouls and more. It has not been trimmed and has a very "artsy" look with its' unusual layout. This classic SPOOK SHOW collectible poster will be safely mailed folded (as found) flat in a box and mailed via USPS Priority Mail. This poster needs to be displayed and enjoyed either in a private or museum setting. Again, this is an Original Spook Show Theater poster and Not a reproduction. I am confident that a true collector will appreciate the rarity of this poster. The "Chasm of Spasms" show was produced the famous KROGER BABB and I added some information on him that I copied from the internet below. DR.OGRE BANSHEE CHASM OF SPASMS! by exploitation master Kroger Babb (producer of Mom and Dad, She Should Have Said No, Prince of Peace, Karamoja and many more) organized and sent out to tour America in 1948. Famed magician Card Mondor later took the show to Australia. Very little memorabilia survives from Orge Banshee’s Chasm of Spasms. Ah, the great days of classic exploitation films! When a b-movie maven, one of the Forty Thieves, a road show giant like Kroger Babb, Dwain Esper, Don Sonney, David. F. Friedman, J.D. Kendis, George Weiss, K. Gordon Murray and others would take the show on the road. Birth of a baby films, drug films, burlesque and striptease films, nudist camp films … all sold with a lot of hullabaloo, hype and showmanship. Those were the days when they didn’t just deliver a film, they put on a show – a roadshow - with lobby displays, lurid posters and often a live lecturer to tell the “facts” and sell a booklet or some such novelty item. Exploitation, sexploitation – those days are gone now. But you can own this authentic, original, vintage piece of cinematic history.
