A super quality solid sterlingsilver snuff box. It is hallmarked for Edinburgh 2000 with the makers marks being PJD for Peter Doherety a top quality box maker. It hasbeen retailed by Gallagher’s having their JJG insignia to its base. For thoseunaware Gallagher’s are a very high-quality maker/retailer with associations to both Aspreys and Garrards. It has a nice tradition designed being engine turned to the lid, base andsides and has a concealed hinge with the inside being gilded. I...t is in super conditionbeing free from dings splits distortions and repairs, a tiny scratch near the hallmark. The hinge is smooth and tight and the lidforms a good seal. It measures 2.5 inches (6.4cms) long by over 1.5 inches (4.2cms)wide by 0.5 inch (1.4cms) deep and weighs 80 grams. A very high quality example.
