Original Description:
Very large, heavy and really enormous old 18th century iron French door key about 10.75 inches (27.5 cm) long. It has a kidney shaped bow, atop a simple solid stem. The heavy flared bit has a variety of cuts for wards in the lock.   Although the key may come from a huge lock, another possibility is that is was made as a sign for a locksmiths store.  Indeed there is a hole in the top of the bow that could have attached the key to a hanging bracket. Thi...s excellent enormous key is in good condition and is a very good example of this style and age of key.  Very collectable and I doubt you will ever find a bigger one. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Buyer pays shipping, £4.50 UK (1st class signed for), £12.00 to continental Europe and £16.00 to the rest of the world (tracked).
