Here's a really cool Western med that for many years was believed to be a Bitters bottle. I was combing through some original newspapers at the Marysville Library back in the 1980s when I came across an 1873 ad for this product, unraveling a long mystery. It was advertised as a cure all, and was sold by P. Pratt & Co. of San Francisco medicine fame (Pratt's Abolition, Perry's Last Chance Liniment, Pratt's New Life). Apparently, ole Perry Pratt didn't advertise the... Bitter Witch product in the San Francisco newspapers, and its appearance in the Marysville paper is most likely only due to him having a local agent there in Marysville, one Fred Buttlemann , who placed the ads that I ran across. I believe the Bitter Witch was only sold for two years, which accounts for it's rarity. This example has a huge drip coming from the front side of the double-ring top. Crude glass with lots of bubbles and swirls in the upper half. Clean Western Glass that was dug in the last two years, and has only been rinsed off, never been messed-with, and still has a little bit of dirt in the bottom corner. If you don't mind the bruise on the back panel, you'll enjoy this eye-appealing crude example of the uniquely moulded Bitter Witch bottles ! Winner to pay $12.45 which includes the shipping
