1868 Oakland Maine Drummond Chapter #27 RAM PENNY TOKEN DIE STAMP
This had been acquired from an old building along with many others some going back to the 1880s where most of them seem to have been earlier 1900s. I do not know the exact date of this die stamp but is 100% OLD & ORIGINAL.
Where as the token market has grown for many years with collectors looking for the rarest pieces, try to find the die stamps that made those tokens!
This die stamp would have historical importance since it was involved in the making of the one penny token shown. That chapter or specific place is probably not around anymore as the building could have burnt down in the city, business dissolved or could still be under a different name & number but somewhere else. Early historical items like this are sought after outside of the token relationship as the city on it may have been a very small town where in its early days may have been an important place to have gone etc. You just don't see stuff like this.
I wiped it off the best I could but is dirty, has scratches & marks, tarnish , wear from being used in the old days. I am going to be listing weekly from this archive so please check back for many more listings and if you have specific needs or wants ?'s please ask as there are a lot.
