Grapefruit Moon Gallery is thrilled to announce the acquisition of a large, detailed, and well-maintained collection of vintage Bettie Page ephemera and memorabilia. Often referred to as the “Queen of the Pinups, ” Bettie’s jet-black hair, blue eyes, and trademark fringe have influenced artists and models for generations. Page entered the field of “glamour photography” as a popular camera club model. Her lack of inhibition in posing made her a hit and landed her in such men’s magazines as Wink, Titter, Eyeful, Beauty Parade and Playboy. While finding success modeling in commercial glamour photography, Page’s pin-up and BDSM photos and films for photographer Irving Klaw made her iconic.
Hugh Hefner said of Page, “I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society.” This unique collection contains a wide assortment of photographs from Klaw and others as well as magazines, films, and collectibles bearing Page’s singular visage & body. Posed fully nude and casting her signature flirtatious smile, Bettie is brazenly posed. Bettie's radiance and dangerous curves are absolutely irresistible in this classic view that is believed to be unpublished!
Measures 6" x 9.25" on a matte double weight paper stock.
CONDITION: good to very good condition, no better, with scattered corner/edge wear, areas of surface loss along the edges, silvering to the emulsion, and general storage/handling wear. Please use the included images as a conditional guide.
