Offered for sale by auction is a large hand carved scrimshaw statue, the piece is carved into a genuine swordfish rostrum and has been made at some point in the last twenty years.
Decorated with multiple deep relief carved scenes of a family of 3 whales, fish, sea turtles corals and reef fish, it is a beautiful item.

This example has acquired a beautiful patina which can be seen in the photos where it is dark to the reverse and creamy to the front.
The carving is made from a bi-product of the fishing industry, its a non cites specimen meaning it can be shipped anywhere in the world as the fish is not endangered.
