NOTE TO EBAY - please do not confuse the swordfish (latin name Xiphias gladius) with other species, this is not a CITES species.
Offered for sale by auction is a large hand carved scrimshaw statue, I have relisted due to a time waster, the piece is carved into a genuine swordfish rostrum and has been made at some point in the last twenty years. This example is extra special as it contains species I have never seen carved onto a rostrum previously, this is one of the best e...xamples I have ever seen and comes with a free display stand (Normally these are £20).
This example has acquired a beautiful patina which can be seen in the photos where it is dark to the reverse and creamy to the front.
The carving is made from a bi-product of the fishing industry, its a non cites specimen meaning it can be shipped anywhere in the world as the fish is not endangered.
Measures just short of 3 feet.
