ANTIQUE SINGERS PATENT POCKETCOMPASS ~ FRANCIS BARKER ~ c1880 ~ HAND DRAWN DIAL===================================This very fine Victorian PocketCompass has the Singer’s Patent Designhand drawn dial with a 32 - wind compass rose displaying cardinals andintercardinals.The outer scale is from 0 – 360 degrees, with 2 degree divisions.The floating compass card movesfreely and is suspended on a jewelled bearing which carries the renowned maker *Francis Barker’s trademark logo, FBS, wi...th the ‘S’ in reverse.The cardinals and intercardinals wereoriginally highlighted with luminous paint but have sadly lost their luminosity.This superb compass is containedwithin a polished brass case with a hinged lid and has a transit lock locatedon the inner edge, which is activated when the lid is closed. The glass face isperfect, with no chips or marks.The brass compass case is in verygood condition with no dents or dings, only a few small scratches commensuratewith age.Dimensions: 2.25 inches in diameterand .75 inches in depth. A highly collectable compass from oneof the premier makers of the time. ===================================
