What is included:Microscope in its original wooden case. Two eyepieces.Three objective lenses (two are stored in brass cylinder cases, one remains in the microscope).20 hand-made slides, each with hand-written labels, presumably Victorian.A selection of slide components and one slide of a cockroach leg made by y...ours truly when I was aged 13.Also included is a condenser lens on its own stand - see photographs.
The three eyepieces have one, two or three bands, creating low, medium and high magnification.
As you will see from the photographs, the microscope is complete and in very good condition with no damage. There are signs of wear on the main microscope tube and some stains on the slide stage. The mirror is in good condition - one side appears to be perfect and the other has lost a little of its silvering at the edge. I have highlighted this in one photograph with a blue arrow.
The box for the microscope is 38cm high, 21cm wide and 18.5cm deep.
I had years of fun with this microscope as a child and young teenager. It will make a superb gift for a budding scientist or a great display item.
When using the microscope, note that there are two focusing wheels - coarse and fine. When you first use it, be careful with the coarse focus wheel - I remember how easy it is to accidentally crank it straight through a slide.
I will be sad to say goodbye to my microscope, but retirement and down-sizing means it has to find a new home. If you have any questions, please contact me via eBay or call/text me on 07768 874214.
