This is for a lovely sleek looking sterling silver art deco cigarette box, it was originally designed for cigarettes but of course it would have many uses now, it does not smell like it has ever been used for cigarettes. It features a nice fine engine turned finish with stylish twin bar design the runs over the whole box, there is a largish cartouche at the very front under the catch as well, that is totally blank. It has a full set of English sterling silver hallmarks for 1959 along w...ith makers marks M Bros for the Mappin Brothers. Inside the box is lined with a light coloured wood and the base of it is black bakelite
It is in excellent condition, the engine turning and hallmarks are clear and crisp, the cartouche is blank, the inside is clean and it opens and closes perfectly, it has survived really well, it has only the lightest of wear, just the few tiny little marks and dings you see. It measures 122mm x 96mm and stands 31mm tall.
