Those horizontal lines you see in the photo are reflections from my camera in the mirror polished face of this gorgeous specimen slab! This one is both colorful and perfectly detailed - they don't get much better! That starburst wood grain pattern is one of the fanciest you'll see in a Blue Forest log and there are more insect tunnels chewed into this one than any other round this size I've offered recently. Study this one closely under a magnific...ation and you'll spot a few solo ostracods (tiny fossil seed shrimp) suspended in the translucent agate and perfectly preserved next to their ancient home! Combine all that with rich translucent fortification agate accents laced throughout the cross section of this log and then prepared with our unmatched mirror polish and you've got a truly impressive show piece! Here's an absolutely museum grade Blue Forest petrified round cut from the center of a perfectly formed log that captures your eye like no other round I've ever seen from this location! It's got really nice wood preservation throughout with a very well defined heart in the center of the log and the most stunning wood grain you'll ever see in one of these pieces. This is truly an absolutely flawless petrified wood round sure to be a real collection centerpiece! You could wait a long time and not see a piece this dramatic! The Blue Forest is a uniquely preserved bed of small branches and occasional logs in central Wyoming. The digging is hot and dusty, but every once in a while you stumble on a real treasure and this little log is one of them! The dark, blue/black, coffee and chocolate colors the wood is preserved in are characteristic of these specimens, as are the infusions of agate that filled the cracks and coated the log! This is a perfectly flat slice from the center of a larger than average sized log from a pepperwood tree. It's been cut and polished to show off all the gemmy detail from this 50 million year old treasure captured inside. It took a pretty awesome polish - something we strive to produce on every specimen we put our name on! The fibrous cell structure of the radial wood grain is exceptional and easily studied with a hand lens. This is a nice, eye catching specimen, and it is close to perfect - something that will show proudly in any collection. It measures about 5 3/4" across the polished face and is sliced roughly 0.34" thick. A nice, unique naturally wonderful stone collectible exclusively from Sticks-in-Stones Lapidary - eBay's Original Rockshop!
