Danish Modern Teak Mirror By Randers Mobelfabrik 1960s True
Item History & Price
This is a really cool piece of Scandinavian furniture. The mirror is 8 inches (20.3 cm) wide and about 23.5 inches (60 cm) tall. It’s made of Teak and has a nice rich grain. The mirror has a thick base (about 3.25 inches) with a curved notch running vertically in it. This is for a vase insert designed by Per Lutken for Holmegaard. The blue vase in the photo and included is a replacement (not sure the make). It is a bit too narrow and lacks the “holding’ lip around the top. The previous owner just used tape to hold the vase bottom level with the mirror bottom. My plan (before I realized I didn’t have wall space for the mirror) was to make a double bracket to hold the vase in place flush with the top. I’ll let you be creative (or maybe you can find an original vase to fit).
The mirror has no maker’s marks, but is identical to the ones with the Randers stamp on the back. Condition wise, it’s in great shape. It obviously lacks the original vase, but the only other issue is there’s some water staining on the back panel that holds the mirror in place. And there’s a small “dead” spot on the mirror. The wood is all in great shape with a nice dark patina... and the base shows some great end grain.
These mirrors sell for quite a bit and are hard to find. But I’m starting this at $9.99 as a true auction (no reserve). Have fun bidding.
Take a look at the photos... they do a good job showing things.
I won't end the auction early. I enjoy watching the bids and I figure once I start the auction, it's not fair to other bidders to stop it before the stated end date/time. And this is a true auction... no reserve... no "buy it now." You can set the value.
I've been on eBay since 1997 when it was ALL auctions and in over 20 years selling I've only had one item returned. I collect, so I know what's it like to get an item that's nothing like described. So, I tend to go overboard on the photos and description. If there is an issue, I'll make it right or you can return the item as per the listed terms.
I happily ship internationally. I'll work with you to make sure it's the least expensive (and safest) shipping method. I don't use eBay's Global Shipping option because a number of international buyers have told me it's more expensive for them. If you'd like that option for some reason, I think I can set it up after the sale.
And eBay's shipping calculations sometimes seem really off. If you think it's wrong, let me know and we can double check. I don't make money on shipping. I just want to cover my costs. But especially with international shipping, weight makes a big difference and sometimes my weight estimate is too high. If I can ship for less, I'll refund any overage you've paid.
Oh, and I'm always happy to combine shipping if possible.
Thanks in advance. Let me know if you have any questions.
Take care,
jack
