The first title page reads in part: "Atlas of Wayne Co., Pennsylvania. From Recent and Actual Surveys and Records Under the Superintendence of F. W. Beers. Published by A. Pomeroy & Co. 36 Vesey St. New York, 1872. Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1872 by A. Pomeroy & Co., in the Office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington, D.C."

The front cover reads : "Atlas of Wayne County, Penn&nb...sp;F. W. Beers & Co."
The book measures 16 X 13 inches; (thick 4to); hardcover; black leather spine on blue pebbled cloth boards with gilt & blind stamped lettering & decorations on front board; losses & tears to leather on spine ends; hole in spine leather near the top; 6" split to lower part of front hinge but still attached; edges of spine & boards wells worn; corners rounded & exposed; losses to cloth & fraying along edges of boards; boards stained, spotted, rubbed, scratched & dust soiled; previous owner's names in ink & pencil on front end-papers & title page; large tears and numerous bends & creases on front free end-paper; several repaired tears on title page; small tears along edges of title page; title page has numerous vertical bends & creases; the first 4 maps have large, heavy dark brown ink stains which cover much of the surface of the maps; the ink stains extend through to the next five maps and gradually get smaller until they are just on the outer edges of the last few maps; age toning, foxing spots and small light brown stains throughout entire contents; the 2-page Wayne county map at the beginning is split nearly in two, with the front half nearly detached from the binding; the Pennsylvania map has tears on the edges; missing page 12 (outline map of Wayne Co.) and 1/4 of fore-edge section of 1st page (p. 49/50) of map of Honesdale; the rest of the maps are present, collated to list of maps on the table of contents; the pagination skips pp 48, 54, & 60 but this is due to poor editing, these pages are not missing; there are some small ink & pencil inscriptions on the blank sides of a few maps. The book is a scarce publication. There are no other original printings of this edition available for sale on internet book searches (ABE, ILAB, etc...).
