This is quite a glorious design which is signed and dated in embroidery stitches, 1923. The embroidered panel measures 14 inches by 11 inches and t...he detail in the garden of flowers is quite a wonder - there are some beautifully stitched lilies and delphiniums and tiny tiny French knots making up irises. To top it all off there is a wonderfully detailedly peacock in the left-hand corner which has, I think, tiny metal threads helping to make the iridescence of the feathers. To help to create depth to the image there are two harbours of wisteria and one of roses which help give the picture some depth of perspective
The two figures are similar beautifully detailed with immaculate stitching - there is a wash of painted sky and greenery to complete the picture.
