An interesting and scarce example of an original 19th century Fijian Bowai war club.
Lovely tavatava carving to the top of club, some carving looks to have been worn down at the collar and possibly further down the shaft (can be difficult to see). This club could have once possibly had a lot more tavatava carving!
The club has not been reduced in length, but most likely has been used as a walking stick at some stage in its life.
Lovely tappering shaft with a ...good colour / patina.
A lovely heavy, substantial example of a bowai club.
Overall length approx. 33.25 inches (84.5cm).
