Very rare and original, ca1890’s Native American Plateau (possibly Nez Perce) Indian Bead Decorated Hide Circular Pouch. This outstanding late 19th century Plateau Beaded Pouch measures approx. 3 3/4" long overall and 4 1/4" wide at its widest point. The decoration is a beautiful, floral design and the beadwork is very well preserved.
This wonderful Plateau Pouch is thread and sinew sewn of thick but supple, brain tanned hide and features an images of styli...zed flowers on on the front panel. The decoration is executed using colors of red white-heart, chalk white, turquoise, cobalt blue and orange. The Bag has a flap closure with a rawhide drop that terminates with a tin cone and red wool strands.
