Bonjour and thank you for looking !From Provence in the South of France a rare very sweet antique mini/toy sewing or knitting basket from the 1900's.The basket was home made out of antique fabric and wood. The frame is in wood and the body of the basket is a superb Toile de Jouy. The Toile de Jouy features an angel/cherub/putty holding the ribbons coming from a large ovale medallion. The Toile shows draperies, tassels and swags in the background as well as a treillis and mythological f...emale characters.The fabric is a good weight cotton. The Toile de Jouy is in nuances of grey and dusty pink. It is hand sewn in part and lined with a pale grey sateen. The wood frame is in an X shape and is natural wood. Both the fabric and the frame are in excellent condition.
Approx. folded 2" x 10" x 18" (5 x 25.4 x 45.7 cm) - standing 8" x 12" x 14 3/4" (20.3 x 30.5 x 37.5 cm).
