For sale is an decent example of a WW2 hair sporran as would be worn by a junior ranks member of the Highland Light Infantry. The sporran is in very good condition for its age, with it black horse hair still thick and securely attached. The cantle cap and cones are silver in colour which I believe means that the sporran was worn by volunteer battalion members, while the sporrans worn by the regular battalion members had brass fixtures. The white horse hair brus...hes also full bodied and in very good order, though one seems slightly small than the other two. The leather inset and sporran badge are again in overall excellent condition. The pocket/purse on the reverse-side face of the sporran is in great condition with the button still in place. The unit acronym "HLI" and some other unit numbers are stamped on the back of the sporran along with original Scottish sporran maker details. For some reason the year the sporran was made has been scratched out. The sporran is a touch on the short side measuring 38 cm or 15" in overall length. Weighs 600 grams before packaging.
