Major General Smedley D. Butler (1881-1940) Signed Card, "S. D. Butler, Maj. Genl. Marines", 3.25 x 2.25, by the senior United States Marine Corps officer who fought in both the Mexican Revolution and the World War 1. Butler was, at the time of his death, the most decorated Marine in U.S. history. During his 34-year career as a Marine, he participated in military actions in the Philippines, China, in Central America and the Caribbean during the Banana Wars, a...nd France in World War 1. By the end of his career, Butler had received 16 medals, five for heroism. He is one of 19 men to receive the Medal of Honor twice. The rare form of both his signature and rank are penned in dark black ink. In fine condition, with age toning. #11556
